NICOLE SCHERZINGER SETS RELEASE DATE FOR DEBUT ALBUM
Earlier this week Nicole Scherzinger announced that she had collaborated with R. Kelly, 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg to cut some tracks on a more R&B-fied version of her Killer Love album. Now the former Pussycat Doll has announced an official release date of her new album. While a dancier version of the album is doing pretty well overseas, Nicole will release her debut album in the U.S. on August 16. Her label Interscope Records revealed that her official U.S. single, the 50 Cent-assisted single “Right There” as well as her U.K. singles “Poison” and “Don’t Hold Your Breath,” will be featured on the album along with four to five new songs including an R. Kelly and Snoop Dogg collabo called “Peep Show.”
Here's what she told Rap-Up.com about the inspiration behind the album:
“At the time I was doing my U.K. album, I was really into more dance-inspired music, which is amazing and so much fun for Europe,” Nicole told Rap-Up.com. “For the U.S., I wanted to go back to my roots where I started, a little bit more urban sounding ’cause that’s still a very big part of me as well, and I wanted to make sure I wove that into the album.”
America has yet to fully embrace electronic music that doesn't sound like dated Euro trash that Gaga is putting out, so that's why people like Nicole and Kelly Rowland always have a problem charting with dancier songs. The drop of her album in the U.S. couldn't come at a better time, since she just got a job as co-host on Simon Cowell's U.S. edition of The X Factor. Maybe we can get a proper performance out of her by then as well. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that Nicole has some Stateside success with this album.
